Melt the equipment when Psyche Gauge is over 70%.
Please Disenchant and Disgrade first before Melting.

Yellow frag = 1-2 gems.
Red frag = 3-6 gems.
Purple frag = 7-12 gems

Full yellow item = 5 yellow frags = 5-10 gems
Full Red item = 10 red frags = 30-60 gems
Full Purple item = 20 purple frags = 140-240 gems

Note: a complete NON-FRAG Purple item can melt 20~30 gems (i.e books) (not official)

For armaments, it's static -- 1 yellow arm frag = 5, Full yellow arm = 25.

Does upgrading Armory itself pass 101 do anything? Or is it a waste of drachs?

Upgrading Armory increase maximum enchant stat.

Not sure, but I do not think Armory level affect Melting system.

A yellow lyre frag (just 1) melted for 5 gems for me today.

Red mount and cloak frags melt for 2-4 gems. Never got more then 4 for them.

got 50 today from melting a full hero's pride (with lvl 110 armory)

For standard equipment:

Yellow frag = 1-2 gems*
Red frag = 3-6 gems.
Purple frag = 7-12 gems.

A full yellow is 5 frags, a full red is 10 frags, a full purple is 20 frags so melting full armor gives:

Full Yellow - 5-10 gems.
Rull Red - 30 to 60 gems.
Full Purple - 140 to 240 gems.

For books, the amount is significantly less. I had this info written for yellow / red / purple but it's gone.

So to completely fill this guide, we need to know exact value of books, how much a red armament frag melts for, and how much a G1 or above armament melts for.

*Note: I've never seen a yellow melt for more than 1!

I got 12 gems from a yellow horn. Imprisoned sould trumpet.

purple books melt for 32-36 gems

When i got purple books, I used it as an opportunity to stockpile gems too. So I continued to get purple books with every daily quest for the remainder of the week. Unfortunately that also means I did not melt any red books
