Do Continuous Battle Magic heroes need both Spirit and Valor Arms maxed to be effective? I know that its best to max all arms, but it is a question of priority.
best not to have any bugs..........damn waste of space
Priority will depend on which faction you are and which heroes you are using. I would say most people work an Spirit hit arm first, and then either Valor hit or Element hit next.

For my full BM setup I got lucky on Valor hit early and then worked on Spirit hit. Now that Spirit hit is done I am working on Valor defense.

Not sure if my answer really helped you or not because everyone has their own priorities based on their type of build.

Good Luck!
The question is whether Continuous Battle Magic heroes need both Spirit and Valor arms maxed for effectiveness. I know Continuous Battle heroes use spirit and valor to attack for their battle magic [ie. Anubis needs a weapon and mount to be effective]. Cool

Define effectiveness???

Obviously since their damage is based on both stats having both arms enhanced will increase damage output. But effectiveness is a matter of personal opinion. From my experience with full BM build, I think you need either maxed valor arm or maxed spirit arm to beat Iphitos at the end of Olympia. I haven't seen a full BM build beat Iphitos yet that didn't have one or the other maxed.
You answered the question in the first line. That was my thought as well, but it had not been stated or suggested by any experienced player in the forum. I wanted clarification. For me effectiveness = Maximum output [power in pve and pvp] for the resources used.
The answer depends on two main things:

1) What BM are we discussing? (Stardust Wrath? Sally? Falling Skies?) The strength of a spirit component makes valor more or less important.

People who use Heimdall can actually get away with single washing him for valor, while I wouldn't even consider such a thing with Edjo who's spirit is more substantial than his valor.

Anubis is another special case... his spirit ranges from 40% to 90% of the damage he puts out (valor strength drops as his faculty lowers, but the spirit increases more).

2) Do you use a bugler? two of them? a dancer? If you run a BM hero with 4 mages or something like that, valor would be more influential... simply based on how often they opponent takes you out of BM mode or shoe soon you can spool up to fire (which affects the # of BMs you can launch, but also what faculty level you'll have when you do). Without a bugler in formation, you'll be doing valor attacks every second
round... meaning his valor is more important if you're using him as a
mobil tank for your mage build.

Easiest way top approach this issue? You want valor arms.
Mechs? valor
valor-mages? valor
BM-hero regular attacks? valor
BM-hero BM attacks? valor+ spirit.

This is the primary reason armor and valor wash/enchants on mages is so effective at limiting damage... you simply see more valor attacks each battle than any other type.

I wouldn't skimp on valor arms/gear/stats like people do with standard spirit-only BM in the past. Nersus was a good example of that. Most people don't even give him a weapon... just a mount and single wash for spirit... and he'll get them into Nils no sweat as a double bomber with Eurybia or Lotis.

No, it is paralyzed. VSR: Mrs. M, how long has your arm been paralyzed? Did it start now or earlier? BM: It has been paralyzed continuously for several days .
1) The lack of jewels for all heros has made arms even more important.
2) Valor Hit/Shield gear and arms are VERY important in the current patch (Batheo 7300, lv210 maps/heros).
Even if you can't jewel them up, most players will wash/enchant/mask all heroes hoping to reduce damage vs lower level players (and since you have nothing else to do with the laurels and gems anyway :p) but I think its fruitless vs NPCs at or above your own level.
Most players at lv180+ use this order of importance:
1) Honor of Athena - valor hit
2) Eratos' Affection - Spirit hit
3) Shelter of Athena - valor shield
4) Hellfire - elemental shield
5) Death Light - elemental hit (for Kuku and occationally healers).
6) Flag of Union - faculty
7) Stone of Chaos - spirit shield

You'll notice spirit shielding is last. So many of the NPCs you face are super geeked up Epic heros who do serious valor and spirit damage. Using RALLY or DODGES are pretty much essential to beating these NPCs, regardless of spirit shielding they'll tear you up if they land a punch.
Valor is so important though, that some players go after valor shield BEFORE spirit hit... a large departure from previous theories where offense ALWAYS ruled the priority list. YMMV
