An very Inspiring Story
I'll be lying if i said Batheo hasn't affected my life thus far, i think
the fact that my wife is ranting about divorce and my baby is crying
for milk, while i'm typing this out is fair testimony. Let me try to
finish off my inspiring story before my electricity is cut for not
footing the bills over the last few months.
I was once a happily married man with an aspiring job. Understanding
wife, cute baby, job that payed the bills and more. Whatever spare time i
had to myself, i surfed the net and idled time away on facebook. Along
came this post on my friend's wall saying Batheo is an addictive game
and it'll change your life. Fair warning indeed, so i did what was
necessary and delved into batheo instantly.
1 week later i stopped going onto facebook. What was the point of
chatting with friends or wishing ppl festive greetings when batheo was
beckoning? It was not long after that personal friends started calling
and asked why i never responded to texts or answered calls. It didn't
take long for them to stop calling since the answering machine didn't
give them the replies they expected. 2 weeks after my induction to
batheo, i officially became a social outcast. Gone were the invitations
to dinner or to functions, gone were the daily chit chat banter that
constituted my phone's usage. I guess that was a good thing, since 1
month later my phone bill hit an all time low and i actually could
downgrade my phone plan and spend more money on batheo.
I guess that was about the time where my wife stopped being
understanding and started hinting at counseling or a break to chill
things out. Maybe it was cause i was always at the computer instead of
being in bed. Or maybe cause i was at home all the time but didn't help
out with the daily chores. I thought she would have understood, after
all i quit my job because i needed to be online for area battles and
legions, not to help look after the baby. Talking about the baby... why
can't she feed herself yet? Enduring 30 minutes of screaming and wailing
does not help my silver mine wrestle.
Enough on how my life has been affected by batheo, let's talk about how
it's inspired me. Few months or so after i started batheo (i can't place
an exact timing on how long it has been.. i think my baby can walk
now.. but weirdly enough she doesn't recognize me anymore... but i guess
that's fair cause i don't recognise her either), i came to the shocking
realization that after burning my savings, batheo decided to place a
barricade on my progress by demanding i need to spend more, or rely
totally on luck. Seeing how all my credit cards were already maxed out i
decided i didn't need to spend anymore money to excel at batheo. Fast
forward one month. I think my luck sucks. 30 days of hoarding gems and
my enchanting caused my stats to go down tenfold. All my armaments were
still grade 0. My gear wasn't enhanced at all since this drach-eating
monster called commissioning had a phobia of anything purple. I resisted
the urge to bash my computer with my fist because i couldn't afford a
new one. I probably couldn't damage the computer anyway, a few days of
not eating saps your strength away.
Now u may think that doesn't sound very inspiring.. but here's the good
part... all that taught me.. patience and endurance! Furthermore, it
cured my relatively short temper! Now i'm patient enough to sit through
the hourly long sessions where my wife's lawyer demands more and more. I
can endure not visiting the washroom for longer hours. And i no longer
scream at my baby every few minutes, i just lock her in the room and
blast the music.
I hope my story was inspiring. Now pardon me while i stop wasting time here and allow me to get back to playing batheo.
My story with/feelings for Batheo:
Was an avid gamer in WoW, but that took huge time consumption and
management so batheo caught my attention as a better way to balance real
life and having fun online. A game where everyone is limited to the
same "time" in game due to the fixed number of divs means a game suited
for the working class. 3 hours of online gaming daily? impossible. 30
mins of online gaming daily? much better. hello batheo.
sadly the horrible fixed times set for silver mine wrestle, area battles
and farm battles meant that those were out of my reach, and while i
don't mind missing ABs n FBs that much.. missing SMWs 95% of the time
really widened the gap between those who were equal in map progression
with me. the drach difference earned is pretty noticeable, and i find it weird that a game which is catered for those with minimal time online,
would introduce activities that punish those who have limited time
online. kinda contradictory don't u think?
additionally, the huge dependance on luck is another bad factor. i spent
enough to get VIP 6 to make up for all the SMWs i missed, but somehow
got stuck doing hl2 for 3 months because i couldn't get a full purple
drop and it took me that long to complete 20 frags. i've seen ppl get
2-3 full drops within a day, and while i don't expect that kind of luck,
surely it wouldn't be asking too much for 1 full drop after 3 months of
daily hl2 runs.. or at the very least.. higher drop rate for frags?
To sum it up.. i spent more than the average player, but i don't see
much effect. a player who hasn't spent a single cent will earn more
drachs than i do if they can make it for smw regularly. a player who
hasn't spent a single cent will get what they want faster than me too..
so i don't see any reason why i should spend any further. I guess that's
the biggest flaw of batheo, the paying customer does not get what they
deserve.
At the end of the day batheo is still a fun game, but it'll be nicer if certain areas were made to be fairer for all.
