Disclaimer: This is just my observation. I do think there is no theory on enchant that is foolproof at this point.
I'm not very experienced, but from what I've seen -
The "hidden PG" for enchant only applies for a certain gear type/color.
For example, you might get +3, +1, +2.. on a purple weapon, but -stat on purple armor or even a red cloak for the same PG timeframe. So, what I do is I'd try on a junk purple weapon first. If I make it, I'd proceed to enchant my main purple weapon. Same gear type; same color!
So, if I get +stats on a purple armor, I'd say in chat "PG is good for purple armor". That might help guide another player. Ofc, he can't blindly take it, but if he is successful on his junk item for the same gear type/color, that shud ring a bell to him
