generally speaking, the damage is calculated as attacking power - defense power, so 15% or 30 % more attacking power doesn't mean only 15% or 30% more damage, it could be much much higher percentage.
e.g. if the base attacking power is 5000 and base defense power is 3000, base damage is 2000, but if attacker got 15% bonus, make his attacking power 5000 * 115% = 5750, then the damage would be 2750, it's 37.5% higher. if 45% more attack, that would be more than double the damage.
